Denial, Propaganda or Both?
It has been a known fact that those in positions of leadership in Rockford, Illinois do not want the truth told about the city. Hopefully, this will change under the new administration. Denial is practiced as a form of mind-control upon citizens of Rockford, and it is a condition of the Rockford media. Rockford media is deficient in giving a balance of the news. Although several media sources in Rockford have been informed and received reports concerning the organized ring of extortion operating through the federal bankruptcy court in Rockford, they will not touch the story. Or, maybe it can be more correctly stated that they CANNOT report it.
It is no secret that if you wish to keep your job in Rockford, you must do what the good ol' boys want you to do.
Most recently, there has been controversy concerning the over-crowding of the jail in Rockford. A federal government worker once assigned to Rockford, but now working out of Chicago, reported that he found Rockford to be "institutionalized." The jail is part of that institutionalization. In a CIVIL case in the Winnebago Circuit Court, attorney Janet D. Fuenty asked the Court to send a woman over 60 years old to jail because she placed a lien upon Fuenty's client's crops for unpaid rent. The woman has never been to jail a day in her life, but the attorney thought nothing of asking the Court to sentence her to jail although she has committed nothing criminal.
A local attorney reported that juries in Winnebago County mostly consist of the elderly and farmers who believe that anyone on trial must be guilty. Of course, the sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, daughtersinlaw, and sons-in-law of their neighbors and friends who now serve as prosecutors and state attorneys cannot be wrong. It's the "low-life" people that come from other cities to Rockford, that make Rockford a bad place -- so they think.
It has been stated by a local minister that a cloud of self-righteousness dwells over Rockford, and it rains forth dishonesty. There's nothing wrong with having pride, however, when pride makes people feel they are better than others, and that gives them the right to abuse and misuse others, the stink carries on beyond its borders. Like smokers who do not smell smoke because they become accustomed to it, a
non-smoker can pick it up the moment they walk into a house, or open a car door.
The article states in part:
"Most of all, people must stop dead in their tracks when tempted to mutter derogatory words, or a few offhand apologies, about Rockford and the region. One cruel word can cancel out a thousand kind ones."
They infer that the truth is a "myth." They infer that truth is "cruel." They infer that thinking the truth is being "tempted." They infer that speaking the truth is to "mutter." They infer that solutions are offering "apologies." Mind control? Denial? Propaganda? We will let the reader decide.
